A catalog edited by the team behind TOO MUCH magazine has been published to accompany “OPEN WORLD,” a group exhibition curated by NEW SCALE at PAAMA. Featuring four participants—Soft Baroque, Pierre Castignola, Geray Mena, and Toshiki Yagisawa—the exhibition presents layered perspectives on contemporary society through their diverse practices.

Inspired by the “open-world” format of video games, the exhibition space invites both audience and artists to become protagonists, allowing countless narratives to emerge through interactions with the works. Soft Baroque imbues archetypal furniture forms like benches and tables with perceptual dissonance, prompting multi-layered sensory experiences. Pierre Castignola explores the boundaries of consumer culture and intellectual property via everyday objects, offering sharp cultural critiques. Geray Mena’s photography embodies a coexistence of the fleeting and the eternal, making visible the strata of time. Toshiki Yagisawa revisits frameworks of materiality and perception through works oscillating between ceramics, wood carving, and digital technologies.

Akinobu Maeda visited Yagisawa’s studio to photograph his works and workspace, while photographer Hirokazu Kobayashi documented the exhibition pieces in Tokyo. Exclusive interviews with each artist are also featured, with Maeda serving as the catalog’s art director.
